Andy Palmer is a Senior Vice President and Executive Committee member at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., with specific responsibilities for Corporate Planning, Product Planning & Program Management; Global Marketing & Communications; Global IS/IT; Infiniti, Zero Emission & Business Unit incubators.
Palmer joined Nissan from Rover Group in 1991 at Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) and ultimately became Deputy Managing Director in 2001. In September 2002, he transferred to Japan as Program Director for LCV's and in 2003, was additionally appointed President of Nissan Motor Light Trucks.
In February 2009, Palmer was appointed Senior Vice President and Member of Nissan's Executive Committee. In this role, Palmer has led Nissan's product portfolio including the Leaf Project, EV's go-to-market strategy and the evolution of Nissan's 500K per annum battery business. In October 2010, his responsibility was extended to include Global Marketing, Brand and Communications. Palmer additionally holds Board Member positions in Nissan's joint ventures in China and India.
He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He holds Diploma & Masters Degree in Product Engineering, a Diploma in Industrial Management, a Doctorate (PhD) in Management, an Honorary Doctorate of Technology and is a Visiting Professor of Tokyo University for Agriculture and Technology.
